What are the things that have basically changed since the fall of socialism in your country?
And what are the things which haven't really changed a lot?

As in Russia, almost everything, law, shape of voiovodships (provinces), human rights are beign respected, democracy dominates life, there are private companies, Polish and from other countries mainly from west, phones are more common, we have internet, comps, mobile's, people are paid better, the police doesn't beat people for petty reasons, unlike then. The country is far more faster developing, we have pretty good relations with our neighbours. We're in EU and NATO, WTO, UN and so on. The roads still ain't the best though. Embarassed

Hm, good for you.
Here healthcare is still horrible. We rather survive an illness than to go to the general practicioner, wait the horseshoe-shaped que and then pay the visiting fee and receive from the doctor "Aha, aha...drink tea rabbit and why didn't you come earlier, my working-time is almost over! Mad "

Car-park has really changed nearly 100%, people's incomes reached the 1989 one around 2002-2003 again, even the pensions, so it became even better (though now it is gettin worse again), streets are more tidy, parks are well maintained especially in the last 1-2 years, (I'm still not used to it Very Happy ), most used buildings have been renovated and many remote castles too.

Housing-situation is getting better, though 1/3 of the population still lives in the Stalin-baroque panel-houses which never exceed the size of 64 sq metres, not the most suitable for families with 3 children. But newer flats are better. Fortunately in my city these ugly blocks are being made to have a better look.

Hm, police seemed to be less strict, but in 2006 it was terrifying what they did to innocent people and how they were treated in the prisons, I have just seen a documentary about some of the cases some days ago too Embarassed

Hmm, what else should I say? It is still not common that young single ones own a car, neither a flat.

Altoghether now it is better than in 1989 for the majority. For me and my environment it is much better, but I must take into consideration the whole country.

Well actually our healthcare ain't really better, our doctors and nurses are making a protest currently, a really big one, they get a very low payment compared to the western, many people can't get medical attention, only the most serious issues get some small help. Our demography is smaller,
and there are still pretty much poor people with a pathology in their
families, and yes, we have still these horrible soviet buildings from the 70's but in my city they're getting prettier by repainting etc. the taxes are pretty high too, and pretty much of'em.
